The Role: As a Full Service Business Development Manager/Director based in Germany , you will be responsible for generating new and repeat business for EXCELYA in full service delivery throughout the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries across Europe, but with a focus upon clients in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Working cross functionally, you will ensure a smooth process at all stages (proposal, bid defence) which maximises the opportunity for success. You will build strong relationships throughout your account responsibility, highlighting EXCELYA’s strength in operations and promoting EXCELYA as the choice partner.

The position will be home based with the expectation that you will spend time in one of our local offices on a monthly basis to stay connected to the operational team.



  • Prospect new customers and opportunities
  • Broaden the service base of existing customers with new services
  • Receive and respond to RFI and RFP documents in collaboration with our proposal and marketing teams
  • Lead bid defence meetings with customers, organizing and collaborating with operational teams
  • Utilise our CRM system to track metrics and share information with colleagues
  • Represent Excelya at industry conferences and tradeshows

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor  Degree in commercial and/or scientific field
  • At least 3 years experience in selling of clinical services/CRO services  to Biopharmaceutical clients
  • At least 2 years experience living and working in Germany with an established right to work in the EU
  • Strong interest in sales and result oriented with excellent negotiation skills and very good command of commercial techniques
  • Control of sales cycles and ability to build complex offers – Ability to convince and leadership with very good interpersonal skills, diplomacy and organization skills, communication skills
  • Broad based knowledge of the Pharmaceutical and Biotech environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Willing to travel extensively nationally and internationally
